Elm wood, 65” X 57”, featuring life-size herons stepping through multi-layered foliage and grasping a log with their claws. The base is a spiral design pedestal. Unique to this piece is the elm wood I used which was blown down in 1954 by Hurricane Hazel and milled by the Michaels dairy farm in Liverpool, NY, and thus sat in a barn loft to the present day. It is very significant to me.
